My gig: Laptop Dell D630 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7250 @ 2.00GHz 2GB RAM DVD+-RW GSA-T21N 80 GB TOSHIBA MK8046GS SATA 7200rpm VGA CARD: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Broadcom Ethernet and Wireless mini-PCI card Conexant modem Running: Ubuntu Linux, the Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy) release. GNOME: 2.22.1 (Ubuntu 2008-04-30) Kernel version: 2.6.24-16-generic (#1 SMP Thu Apr 10 13:23:42 UTC 2008) and Windows XP (dual boot) mainly for gaming, any other windows app that I need to run, I run it from a Virtual machine in Ubuntu. The partitions: / - 6000 MB /home - rest of the HDD swap - 4000 MB /media/disk - ntfs - 15 GB +/- The dual boot: Installed Windows first and then Ubuntu automatically added it to the GRUB menu. The wireless card works with the BCM43xx driver, Ubuntu 8.04 recognizes it in the Restricted Drivers section. Haven't tried the modem, but conexant drivers are out there, it is a popular chip. Applications: Torrent - Deluge FTP - Filezilla (for now) Chat/IM, pidgin is good but no webcam support, use kopete for the webcam IDE: Code::Blocks - the best IDE out there, designed for C/C++ but can be used for any pther language, very customizable and supports pluggins,Has a GUI designer for wxWidgets, integrates well with GLADE and with the QT designer GUI designer for wxWidgets: wxFormBuilder IDE: Netbeans, good IDE for Java RDP/VNC: gnome-rdp iPOD and music library/store: Amarok Games:
