One word: webmin <http://www.webmin.com/>

Webmin is a web-based interface for system administration for Unix. Using any modern web browser, you can setup user accounts, Apache, DNS, file sharing and much more. Webmin removes the need to manually edit Unix configuration files like /etc/passwd, and lets you manage a system from the console or remotely. See the standard modules page for a list of all the functions built into Webmin, or check out the screenshots.

As you see webmin is much much more that a squid admin but, if you don't want to install the whole thing with all the modules you can install just a base core and the install independent modules as you need them.

  • Download webmin-1.410-minimal.tar.gz.
  • Upack it and run the setup.sh script that is inside
    • $ chmod +x setup.sh
    • $ sudo ./setup.sh
  • Answer some simple questions and there you go, webmin is installed.
  • After the installation is finished the script is going to print the URL you should use to access it.. if you have problems use: http://127.0.0.1:[WEB PORT YOU SPECIFIED]
  • In the web interface, look for a module installer and give it the file that contains the module of your choice (modules can be downloaded here: standard modules)

Good luck! and if you have a ny troubles post it here in the comments or in the upcoming forum.
